Marine Lift Inspection Service

At Holland Marine Lifts, we understand that marine lifts operate in unique and demanding environments, whether it’s on a superyacht, offshore vessel or platform, or a naval ship. That’s why we offer a comprehensive annual lift inspection tailored to the real-world needs of each vessel. This service ensures your lift remains reliable, compliant with internal safety standards, and operates as smoothly as the day it was installed.

What’s Included in HML’s Annual Lift Inspection?

Our annual lift inspection is a complete service package designed to maximise operational uptime and guest confidence. Every visit includes:

  • Systematic inspection and performance checks
  • HML recertification document
  • Spare parts assessment and planning
  • Onboard repairs as necessary

HML Recertification – Our Commitment to Safety and Quality

While not issued by a legal authority, our HML recertification confirms that your lift has been professionally inspected and maintained to our own rigorous standards. This document is often requested by offshore operators, captains, chief engineers, and yacht management to assure owners and guests. It’s proof that your lift has been assessed by the same experts who designed and built it.

Spare Parts Assessment – Efficient and Precise

We don’t bring a van full of parts “just in case”. Instead, our team plans intelligently, based on:

  • Observations from the previous year
  • Engineer reports from your crew
  • Specific service requests (e.g. worn door rollers or fraying cables)

If any component requires attention, we either replace it during the visit or schedule it for the next, ensuring continuity and avoiding unnecessary downtime. For urgent cases, we arrange expedited shipping or even borrow parts from nearby vessels to keep your marine lift running.

Repairs and Adjustments – Preventive, Not Reactive

Marine lifts often see light use on yachts and heavy-duty cycles on offshore and naval vessels. Either way, wear and tear is inevitable. Our approach to repairs is proactive, targeting common issues like:

  • Minor controller adjustments
  • Replacing worn mechanical parts
  • Addressing feedback from your onboard team (e.g. stiff doors or noisy mechanisms)

For working vessels, we often perform more in-depth maintenance due to their increased lift usage and higher onboard technical competency. Offshore teams may handle their own repairs but still trust HML for annual checkups and recertification.

Where We Provide Our Services

We service marine lifts worldwide, and regularly visit vessels in:

  • The Mediterranean (France, Italy, Spain)
  • Florida
  • Northern Europe

While we can travel to remote locations like Singapore or Australia, we often coordinate with vessels to combine visits, split travel costs, or schedule around their return to Europe. If your lift inspection is delayed beyond 12 months, we are happy to grant certification extensions up to an additional 6 months, on a case-by-case basis.

Engineered by Us. Maintained by Us

Around 80-90% of the lifts we service are HML-designed systems. We prefer working with our own models because we know them inside out, from design to installation. We occasionally inspect lifts from other brands, especially when requested by a trusted chief engineer or operator, but our repair capability is limited without access to proprietary parts or schematics.

People First Service

Our annual lift inspection isn’t just about machinery, it’s about relationships. We maintain close contact with chief engineers and operators year-round, offering:

  • Video call troubleshooting
  • Email support for self-service fixes
  • Remote diagnostics
  • Consistent technician assignments whenever possible

We only send HML-trained engineers and if we can’t send the right person for the job, we will reschedule to a time that suits you rather than compromise on quality.

Let HML help you keep your lift safe, elegant, and fully operational year-round.
